The 99U conference brings together 1,000 people across a variety of practices and professions. Pretty much anyone and everyone from the creative fields attend. From working on an idea, gathering inspiration from creative leaders, networking with potential collaborators or to learn new tips and trends that could affect the future of creativity, there are many reasons why you would want to attend the 99U Conference.

Eleanor headed out to New York for a week to help with the runnings of the conference. She also attended the Studio Sessions hosted by companies throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Spotify, BuzzFeed, IDEO, Refinery29, ustwo, Dropbox and Shake Shack are just a few to name. Thursday, she was based from the NEW INC Studio Session located on Bowery Street, East Village. NEW INC is a selected incubator programme for those who are trying to make their thoughtful idea into a reality.“Let’s re-envision the incubator model to foster cultural value, not just capital value,” said Julia Kaganskiy, the director of the New Museum’s incubator, NEW INC. “We don’t want to be the next Facebook or Google. Maybe we want to be the next Björk.” The session hosted by New Inc for 99U was a presentation and workshop showing how you can use Virtual Reality to create creative experiences.

Surrounding the studio sessions and main stage talks, there was the likes of Mike Perry showing an exhibition at the Ace Hotel New York. Behance also held a Pop-Up Gallery at Red Bull Arts New York.

Friday, Eleanor managed to catch some of the main stage talks. The likes of Pentagram Partner, Natasha Jen and Ian Spalter, Instagram’s Head of Design were amongst those that held inspirational and thoughtful talks during the Conference.

And if it couldn’t get any better… the 99U Conference closing party was held at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) featuring a DJ set by Hot Chip and Light Installation by Symmetry Labs’. Oh, and of course, finding the best donuts and ice cream shops was at the top of Eleanor's to do list whilst in the city.
